Releasing the Butterflies

Well we have officially let the butterflies go. It was so fun releasing them and one of them cooperated so well and let James chase it all around the yard and even got on his finger. I just love it when bugs cooperate!
This one was actually let go a few days before the others because it was deformed. That may sound funny, but it's true. It's proboscis (little tongue thing) just hung out and he dragged it around all the time. I was afraid he was going to starve to death right in front of us so we let him go early so we didn't have to watch. The others however, did great and ate oranges for many days before we let them go.

If you haven't ordered your butterflies I highly encourage you to do so. It's a fabulous learning opportunity and a gift to nature!
