Window Retellings

I told you that I was going to start working very hard on retellings (which is just teacher lingo for telling a story/song/poem again in your own words) and I had the perfect opportunity today. The boys were playing with their window shapes (a wonderful Discovery Toys product might I add) and James happened to build a house. We started singing a familiar song we know while we built. It's been a fun idea all morning!

The wise man built his house upon the rock. The wise man built his house upon the rock. The wise man built his house upon the rock and the rains came tumbling down.
The rains came down (notice the rain drop) and the floods came up. The rains came down and the floods came up. The rains came down and the floods came up and the house on the rock stood FIRM!

The foolish man built his house upon the sand. The foolish man built his house upon the sand. The foolish man built his house upon the sand and the rains came tumbling down.

The rains came down and the floods came up. The rains came down and the floods came up. The rains came down and the floods came up . . .

And the house on the sand went SPLAT!

I gave the kids these bath shapes for Christmas and they both love them and not just in the bath either. Thanks!
